ROMANIUK: Roman – It is with great sadness that the Romaniuk family announces the peaceful passing of Roman Romaniuk Sr. at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe at the age of 70 on Tuesday, November 28, 2017.  He will be tremendously missed by his mother and best friend Josephine Romaniuk, pre-deceased by his father Fedir Romaniuk. Loving father of Jennifer Romaniuk and son Roman Romaniuk Jr. (Valerie). Precious grandchildren Tatum, Farrah & Brant Romaniuk, sister Kathi Giles (Daryl), brother Bob Romaniuk Sr (Irene), nieces and nephews Bobby, Lisa, D.J., Leanne, Lana and Great nieces and nephews. To all who knew Roman, he was a wonderful and caring individual with tremendous affection for others. Roman was a cherished son, brother/bother in law, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and confidant. He dedicated his time to help others, lent a soft ear and offered wise guidance. He was a natural role model of values and love as a Pépère to his Tatum, Farrah & Brant.  Roman, will fondly be remembered for his positive outlook on life, well expressed by the following words he has left for us: Present moments cannot last; in no time they are gone; so let’s not waste them on the past, for so many reasons live them, then move on. Forget the ones that bring you pain; or a tear into your eye; live them quick, move on again; there’s something new to try. Don’t build a cage around yourself; with bars of love gone wrong; let sadness only be your help; in writing happy songs! He will be forever in our hearts. In respecting his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held for Roman at the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church (Hall), 125 Thompson Road East, Waterford on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 1 to 4 pm. SOUTH COAST FUNERAL & CREMATION ALTERNATIVES INC. 71 Norfolk Street North, Simcoe (519) 426-5102 in care of arrangements. For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Roman’s name they are asked to consider the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences can be left at

You had a great work ethic and appreciated the opportunity to help and share your spirit with others. I’ll never forget the talks we had. You were so appreciative of all you were given. We have cherished the friendship of our Dear Friend, Roman, ever since we first met him having coffee in the kitchen with our Father, Stafford Townsend. Roman had a beautiful, kind and giving soul. He was a regular visitor to Stafford, at The Charlotte Villa. He was a true friend. We particularly remember Roman for his love of music. He generously made and shared music discs with us. On our most recent, long road trip west, we listened to a disc he had made for us…140 songs to reminisce…the last song, “You’re a Friend of mine” by Clarence Clemons, with Jackson Browne and Daryl Hannah. Roman, yes indeed we had a friend in you. Thank-you and God Bless. Love Dot, Doug & Stafford Townsend.
