HESKETH, Florence Anne Theresa Elizabeth (nee MacDougall)

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Florence, on Friday, September 14, 2018 at the age of 91.  Much loved mother of Ernest Hesketh (Carol), and Marilyn MacAloney (Gary).  Cherished grandmother of Jennifer DeGruchy (Craig), Jeffrey MacAloney (Emily), and Evan Hesketh (Megan).  Great-grandmother “GG” of Carley and Megan DeGruchy.  Predeceased by her parents, Alex and Margaret MaDougall, brothers Alistair and Joseph, and sisters Hannah Joyce and Marguerite Hayne.  Sadly missed by sisters Rita Love, Marie Moores (Rupert), special sister-in-law Alice MacDougall, and brother-in-law Percy Hayne.  Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews in the Maritimes and Western Canada, and honorary “Nanny” to many.  Florence was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia and eventually moved to Hamilton, Ontario where she raised her family.  Her heart was always in Nova Scotia, and she made several trips “down home” through the years.  Florence loved spending time with family.  She enjoyed sleep-overs with her grandchildren, and was an avid hockey-grandma, school volunteer, garage saler, and bingo player.  Cremation has taken place, and she will be laid to rest in Trenton, Nova Scotia.  A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 28 from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Caledonia Masonic Centre, 173 Argyle St. N., Caledonia.  Loving thanks to all the caregivers at Anson Place in Hagersville for the wonderful care given to Florence through the years.  If desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society or a charity of your choice.  SOUTH COAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION ALTERNATIVE INC. in care of arrangements. 71 Norfolk St North, Simcoe. www.southcoastfuneralservice.com

Vera Jagger

1923 – 2018

Jagger, Vera (Oxenham) passed away peacefully at Norview Lodge, Simcoe on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at the age of 95.  From South Africa, Vera was pre-deceased by her husband, Norman (1997) and son-in-law Tim (2004).  Vera is survived by her children Ivan and Joan, grandchildren Barry (Chris) and Kristy (Andrew),  great grandchildren, Kiera, Daniel, David and Caitlin and many extended family in South Africa, England, Australia and New Zealand.

Vera was very family oriented and loved spending time with family.  She enjoyed many wonderful family vacations in South Africa and Mozambique.  She also loved animals, especially her dog, Jock, and spending time in her garden.

A private cremation has taken place and a family Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.

Latsch – Charles Eugene

Latsch – Charles Eugene:  Passed away September 4th in his 92nd year at Norview Lodge with his family at his side. Beloved husband and best friend of Audrey Latsch (nee Weber) of Norview Lodge, Simcoe.  They have been married for 68 beautiful years.  Loving father of Geraldine “Gerry” Fischer (Gary) of Villa Nova, Barbara Fridenburg (Lloyd) of Kitchener and Janice Fischer (Larry) of Waterloo.  Grandfather to Lori Friesen (Dwayne), Tanya Jones (Jason), Patrick Fridenburg (Jessica), Adam Fridenburg, Steven Fischer (Lydia), Joe Fischer (Catey), Great Grandfather to Naomi and Julia Friesen, Alyxis and Gabriel Jones, Rebecca Taylor, Alexander Fridenburg, Nathan Katsirdakis, Abigail, Jaxson, Hudson and Paisley Fischer.  Brother of Eileen (Frank) Fabian, Raymond (friend Sylvia) Latsch, Roland (Joan) Latsch.  He worked in his earlier years in maintenance as a 4th class stationary engineer for Schofield’s Refinery in Breslau.  Charles and Audrey were owner/operators of Krestel’s Marina and Restaurant for 15 years in Port Rowan as well as being the Harbour Master.  After retiring from the marina, he also did the maintenance in Port Rowan for Norfolk County Senior Support and subsidy housing.  He was a long-time member of the Lions Club in Port Rowan and Waterford.  Family and friends are invited to his Celebration of Life at Waterford United Church, 135 Main St. S, Waterford on September 22, 2018 from 2 to 5 p.m. where there will be a service followed by lots of music with friends. Marr, Douglas Allen.               April 14, 1935 – August 27, 2018

Doug passed away peacefully at Stedman Hospice, Brantford, while surrounded by his family on Monday, August 27, 2018 in his 84th year.  Son of the late David and Myrtle Marr.  Predeceased by his first wife Ruth.  He is survived by his beloved wife Diane (Sohweyer).  Loving father of Rodney, Todd (Kathy), Terry (Michelle), Rick, Chuck (Debbie), Cindy (Don), and Michael. Cherished grandfather of Matthew (Ashley), Melissa (Ken), Nicole (Dave), Tyler (Laura), Mataya, Westen, Kris (Mercedes), Erica (Cam), Whitney (Travis), Devan, Eric, Evan, Graeme, Griffin and Great Grandfather to Jayda.  Also survived by his siblings Dorothy, Shirley, Arnold (Betty), Bob (Karen).  He was predeceased by his sisters Nelda, Pauline, Leta, Margaretta and his 6 brothers in law.  Fondly remembered by Linda and Karen, as well as his brothers and sisters in law and many nieces and nephews. SERBEE – Guido:  Passed away peacefully at his home in Port Dover on Friday, August 17, 2018.  Son of the Late Hank and Greta Serbee.  Much beloved Life Partner of Sherre Sullivan.  Father of Paul and Gregg and their families.  Dear step-father of Corey and Katie Maas.  Cherished grandfather of 5.  Also surviving is his mother-in-law Gail Brearley, sister-in-law Teresa Mummery, nieces and nephews.  Gui was predeceased by his brother-in-law Michael Sullivan.  Gui was employed by Goodhumour Breyers in Simcoe.  A member of the Masonic Erie Lodge No. 149 A.F.& A.M. June 7th, 1944 to August 14th, 2018

It is with broken hearts but deepest gratitude for his life the Edgar family announces the passing of Russell on August 14, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his cherished wife and best friend Betty Lou, they would have celebrated their 50 years of marriage on August 31, 2018. He will be deeply missed by his son Jeffrey (Yvette) who never missed a day without a phone call, Granddaughter Melodie (Dan), Sister In Law Sandra (Rene), Brother In Law Barry (Karyn), Brother In Law Graden (Marilyn), all of his nieces & nephews.  Russel spent most of his working years with Massey Ferguson as the area finance manager in Southwestern Ontario. He had the “Gift of the Gab”, a deep love for the game of golf and many friends from all walks of life.  Russell had a passion for sports of any kind, music, dancing, going to concerts, travelling and enjoying life.  You are invited to a celebration of life on August 25th, 2018 at 12 noon in the clubhouse of the Villages of Long Point Bay, 26 Long Point Blvd. Port Rowan, Ontario, N0E 1M0. SMITH – George Eugene (Gene)

SMITH – George Eugene (Gene): Passed away peacefully on Friday July 20, 2018 after 84 years of living, loving, working, fishing and hunting.  Son of the Late Orley and Grace Smith.  Beloved husband of Jackie (Gareau), Loving father of Lori Ryan (Scott), Kathy Kingsley (Tracy), Scott Brown (Dale), Christine Mathews (Joe) and Raymond Brown.  He was an incredible Papa and “BIG” Papa to his many grandchildren.  Gene will be fondly remembered by his many siblings and their spouses, nieces and nephews.  Friends were plentiful, always eager to hear one of his tales.  Gene never truly retired and spent many years working alongside his best friend and neighbour Stan Szatrowski keeping a watchful eye over the pumpkin patch from those dreaded deer.  Gene will be missed by many many people.  In keeping with Gene’s wishing cremation has taken place.  There will be a private interment of his cremains.  South Coast Funeral & Cremation Alternatives in care of arrangements.  Those wishing to make a donation in Gene’s memory are asked to consider a charity of one’s choice. www.southcoastfuneralservice.com
