DIXON – Nancy:  Passed away on Saturday December 1st, 2018 in her 66th year.  Daughter of the late John and Zeitha Dixon. Predeceased by sister Rowena Burk, brother-in-laws Bob Little, Gerry Clarke, Ken Burk, and Walt Stire. WOODS – Robert Herbert:  Passed away at the Delhi Long Term Care Nursing Home on Tuesday, November 20, 2018.  Formerly of Simcoe in his 86th year.  Son of the Late Victor and Julia Woods.  Loving father of Greg (Susan Polgar) and the Late Wayne (1994) and David (1963).  Father-in-law of Michele Bach (Peter) and dear friend of Muriel Wybouw.  Cherished grandfather of Brad (Angela) and Jennifer (Nick Bruno), and great-grandfather of Tyra, Faith and Isabella.  Also surviving is his sister Elanor Westerterp, and was predeceased by siblings Barbara, Victor, Sheila and Betty.  Robert worked as a By-Law Officer for the Township of Delhi, retiring in 1995.  He was a lover of the great outdoors and nautical history. He had served in The Royal Canadian Navy and was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #79. YALAKSA – Barbara Anne:  It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother Barbara Yalaksa (nee: Hall) on Monday, November 19, 2018 at the age of 72.  Daughter of the Late Clint and Margaret Hall.  Much beloved wife of the Late Frank Yalaksa Sr. (December 2017).  Much loved mom and mother-in-law of Frank (Liz) of Simcoe, Chris of Simcoe and Shelly (Al Ongena) of Aylmer. Salo: Elaine (Denys Lenore; nee Maukonen)

Salo, Elaine (Denys Lenore; nee Maukonen) passed peacefully from this life on November 12, 2018 to be present with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Predeceased by her parents (Henry and Olga) and husband, Jorma, Elaine will be deeply missed by brothers Ted (Linda) and Bret (Lynne); niece Kimberley (Brent Gilpin; children, Liam, Nathaniel and Rylin) and nephew Marcus, (children Abigail and Caleb). Elaine attended Parkdale Collegiate, participating in student council and synchronized swimming. She was a proud graduate and enjoyed a lifelong friendship with her schoolmates of the “The Parkdale crowd.” She graduated from Lakeshore Teachers College in 1960 and devoted herself to students in the classroom, in Special Education and Remedial Reading. She was employed by the Toronto Board of Education (1960-77) and then by the London Parental School (1980-89). She earned a BA (York) studying part-time while active as a teacher. Elaine was proud of her Finnish heritage and spent many summers in Finland with the Edströms as her second family. From her youth, Elaine was a member of Dovercourt Road Baptist Church until she was married and relocated to London. She also served on the Board of New Horizons Tower adjacent to the church. Cremation has taken place. Dufresne, Maurice “Moe”:   The family announces with sorrow the passing of Maurice “Moe” Dufresne, in his 63rd year at the Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe.  Moe is predeceased by his parents Anita and Real Dufresne of Pickerel River, brother Claude, and his sisters Elaine McDonald and Claire Gervais.  He will be greatly missed by his dear brothers Gerald (Elise) of Garson and Richard (Anne Marie) of Wasaga Beach, by his nieces and nephews Jeffery, Trevor, Jennifer, Colleen, Scott, Marc, Shawn, Jenna, Kean and great-nieces and nephews, as well as, his good friend Richard Ross. The family sincerely acknowledges the kindness of his friends in Simcoe. BUTCHKO – John:  Passed away at Parkview Meadows, Townsend surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 of Simcoe at the age of 83.  Son of the Late Michael and Katherine Butchko.  Much beloved husband of Lillian (nee: Harding).  Loving father of Jeffrey (Maria), Jeannine (Rick Banks), James (Hollie), Kevin Pickard (Gwyn), Janice (nee:Pickard) (Jeff Ransome).  Cherished grandfather of Marcos, Alicia, Jakob, Grayson, Emmett, Sara, Hayley and Becca.  Also surviving is his brother Harry and sister-in-law Evelyn MacDonald.  He was predeceased by son Doug Pickard (2001), brothers-in-law John MacDonald and Ron Harding. John was with F.W. Woolworth for over 42 years retiring in 1995 as Simcoe’s store manager.  Cremation has taken place.
